Feeling disillusioned...
The reason this is a day late, is because I have put half a pound on.
Im being to get fed up of this lark, I'm finding it harder and harder to loose weight, possibly because I'm finding it harder and harder to continue dieting. I think I have hit my dieting brick wall. I currently struggle to not have at least one 'bad diet' day a week.
I have realised Im now 3lbs off my 3rd stone mark, and I set a target of losing that 3rd stone in August (and to of lost in by mid october, that in itself is nearly a month ago) and Im still not there.
I working my butt off (quite literally if todays class was anything to go by) at the gym, I go every day I can work it around shift patterns and childcare, sometimes even twice a day. This week I even braved a personal training session, which I am still struggling to move my arms after. I have to admit though on the whole I am loving going to the gym. It just doesnt seem to be helping the weight loss, even when wearing hot pants (review to come later this week).
Anyway, after a long hard look at myself (and lots of support from some lovely friends), Im going to keep going.
This weeks challenge is a basic one. To stick to the diet for a whole week, and see how I get on at next weeks weigh in.
Wish my luck!

Weekly update 02/11/11
Mixed emotions.
Well this weeks weigh in was a mixed bag of emotions. I did my traditional step on the scales before leaving for the weigh in (why do we do this? its not going to change my weigh in, nor even stop me going to my weigh in, as regardless of what it says I still always go) anyway, I had only maintained. Well, that should be a positive thing, i.e. I havent gained. It wasnt. I had a tiny bit of a huff (read: huge strop) as I have been working really hard this week. So arrived at the class, not impressed, to get on the scales and I have lost 1.5lb. Shocked is not the word. I went from depressed to happy in seconds.
I also had my body fat percentage checked, 34.3%, the normal range is between 21.0-32.9% so Im not that far off a normal body fat percentage.
I have also worked out that I need to lose another 3lb and I will of lost my 3rd stone. Very happy with this...
Last week, I aimed to wear my hot pants for at least 30mins per day, I have managed 1x aerobics 3x 30 min dog walks, 1x bums, legs and tums, 1x circuit training and 1x core conditioning. I have booked into bums, legs and tums, cardio blast, boxfit, bootcamp, step and tone and finally a personal training session in the next week, wearing my hot pants for them all, before doing my review.
I also wanted to behave at a meal out. I did, I didnt fancy any starters, so didnt bother. I had a slightly naughty main course (Japanese Katsu curry, with rice and chips) but then even though there was my favourite desserts, I chose not to have one, as I was full. So all in all Im very proud of myself...
This week, as well as doing all the above planned exercises and sticking to the diet, I also am adding in 40 full sit ups per day. This is after I have decided my beloved pouch (my lower belly flabby area) needs to go, and this is my first step (more will be added later).

Blaming the hot pants!
Well this week I have put 1lb on. Its not a lot, and Im blaming it on being the first time I have worn my hotpants (will be reviewing them after I have finished trialling them) to the weigh in class (although this might be a cheeky prospect as it possibly has more to do with the 2 take aways and the meal out I had this week) its my excuse and Im sticking to it.
I have done my membership to my new gym this week and go to my first exercise class tomorrow am (eek) so Im hoping that will help with next weeks weight loss.
I have also got a dinner out planned for this week, I have decided to try and be slightly restrained (last week I was not) so my plan is to choose either no starter, a healthy main meal and allow myself a pudding or an unhealthy main meal and no starter or pudding or a healthy (ish) starter and main. This will hopefully reduce the risk of added pounds.
Another big challenge, is to get through halloween without eating a house worth of treats. This challenge starts on friday at mini faithful's halloween party, then getting through having treats in the house and not eat them myself. Then finding a way of getting rid of any excess without eating them...
Im also planning on using the hotpants (mentioned above) for at least 30min per day. So on my 5 days exercise wearing them for that, and then the exercise free days (due to nasty night shifts, and giving my body a aerobic break) I will wear them for the dog walks (which are between 30-45min long)

Weekly update 19/10/11
Shocking week.
Well, I havent felt very motivated this week, and have been at my old tricks of eating chocolate or anything naughty when nobody is looking, so mid week to try and find my motivation from behind the sofa, I went clothes shopping.
I thought it might help me to see how far I have to go before a size 12 would fit. So off I went and picked up a size 12 pair of trousers, from one of my usual shops.
I can do them up, granted they were tight, and I suspect would cut of my blood supply if I sat down, but to do them up is a big bonus. To get them over my bum and able to skim my thighs is amazing. This worked as an amazing motivation boost. So back on the band wagon I went, and then I lost.... 4lbs this week. Never have I been so shocked. I nearly fell of the scales.
I think the lesson I have learnt this week, is even if you have had a bad start to your week, getting back on the band wagon can mean you can reverse the damage in time.
This weeks challenge: To kick start my exercise routines again. Since being ill I have found it hard to find my motivation to exercise. This week its going to change. Im no longer ill enough or injured enough to have any excuse not to exercise. I have also found a great groupon deal so Im joining a different gym with better classes and closer to work in the hope the motivation to exercise returns.

Oops!
Oh dear. 2lb on this week.
Now I thought this would happen, but Im, again, not feeling bad about it. I had a lovely time away and have noticed how much my attitude to food has changed. Yes I ate some cake, on a couple of occasions. Yes I didnt always eat the right food at dinner (think burgers and chips or pancake house) but I did always have a good healthy breakfast and one other meal that day. So, for example, the day we arrived I had a naughty lunch, but then had a jacket potato and beans for dinner. The next day was good at breakfast and lunch but went out for dinner. This was a big change from the old me, who would of eaten everything under the sun because it was there...
I also hired a bike, and went on bike rides every day as well as trying hulahoop-a-cise. I had so much fun at hula hooping I have bought one for home! It really worked my abs.
So yes I have gained, but overall Im proud of myself.
Next weeks goal is to of lost what I have gained, in the hope of soon hitting that 3 stone mark.

Deadline week.
My plan was to of hit my 3 stone weight loss by this week.
I havent.
But instead of getting down/upset and depressed Im just accepting that it hasnt happened (possibly not being helped by being so ill) and Im moving on knowing I will hit that deadline at some point. Im still hopeful to hit my size 12 by 14th November.
This is a very new feeling for me. I dont usually make goals, simply because if I dont meet them I go very badly off the rails. This goes with life in general, as well as with dieting. But somehow I have managed to change my mind set and Im able to accept that and move on.
New challenge for this week.
My friend is supporting my weight loss and offering me lots of helpful advice and motivation see her blog here. She had a post recently on how to handle holidays. Im off to centre parcs for the weekend, and my challenge is to try and follow the advice she lays out in her post. I am also still finding exercise hard, so still taking it slightly easy...

Maybe some small proof that 'fad diets' dont work?
Well after last weeks health problems, I have turned a new leaf today. In the last two weeks I have lost 3lb, I'm pretty pleased with that weight loss all in all.
I did cheekily weigh in last friday, on leaving hospital and had lost 6lb. But in the last few days have gained 3 of those pounds back. To myself at least, I think this proves that 'fad diets' dont work. Having to cut back to eating minimal calories a day (for me one small meal per day) did make me lose record weight, but then as soon as I started to eat normally again, the weight has (almost) all been gained back. I wonder if this is what the yo-yo dieters end up doing. Restricting their diet so much, then when they hit their goal, going back to eating normally and volia you end up weighing the same, if not more. Before starting a new 'fad diet' to lose it all again.
This is what the 'old' me did. Time and time again, until something clicked.
Now Im changing how I see food, and concentrating on eating healthily, like eating more fruit and vegetables, drinking a healthy amount of water per day, eating low fat foods, etc. Yes it might take me longer to lose the weight, but there is less falling off the band wagon and its a change for life.
So with that in mind, this week Im not really setting myself much of a challenge. Im going to carry on following my low fat, calorie counting diet and start to increase my exercise slowly. Last night was the first time of doing aerobics since being discharged, and I did feel it, so its low impact exercising for the time being. Hopefully next week, I will be back into the swing of things and will have a more exciting challenge.

Late Weekly Weigh In
One way to lose weight...
This weeks weigh in, is slightly (OK OK nearly a week) late. Thats because the day before my weigh in was due (21st September 2011) I got taken into hospital with suspected appendicitis. So spent most of last week, not being allowed to eat anything. I finally left the hospital on Friday, I completed my weigh in that night, and have indeed lost 6lbs in just over a week. Brilliant weight loss, however the way weight loss works, most of this is actually fluid loss and by starting to eat again, I will put most of this back on. This is why so called 'fad diets' dont work. Therefore this week, Im concentrating on getting better, slowly introducing exercise etc. So I have no goals weight loss this week and have really discounted last weeks weigh in and will see what my weight does this week....

Weekly update 14/09/11
Every cloud has a sliver lining.
Well this week I have lost 3lb. I would like to think, and hope you all believe me, that this is because I have stuck to my 1200calories per day diet. I would also like to think its down to exercising well. Im not sure it is...
I had thursday afternoon off, for personal reasons. I then did reasonably well on friday and saturday, sunday I did really well. Monday I had take out. However this is where the silver linings come in.... We choose to have popcorn and chinese for tea, with some friends this week. Unfortunately, chinese and my body seem to of had a disagreement, and for the past few months having a chinese has started to make me feel ill. This time was the worst feeling ever, and now I think I can safely say I dont fancy eating chinese again (thats the silver lining). It has also had the added benefit of meaning that yesterday I eat virtually nothing, and today my appetite only came back this afternoon (again another silver lining).
So thats this week in a nut shell...
The goal for this week is to start taking some tablets that are meant to, among other things promote weight loss. Im going to be taking them for a month then doing a full review for the blog. I also aim to lose 3lb a week for the next 3 weeks in order to meet my target of losing 3 stone by 5th Oct.
At some point in the future Im going to find a way of dealing with the comfort eating, and will blog my findings, but right now, I have other areas to concentrate on....

Fresh starts
Well this week, I maintained. Which as I didnt manage to handle the comfort eating, Im pleased with. I have got my work cut out for me to meet my target of 12lb lost by 5th Oct, thats 4 weeks time.
So to help me get there, Im going back to the beginning. Im going back on the 1200 cal for 2 weeks and 1400 cal for the following 2 weeks. Fingers crossed it helps with comfort eating, and will help me keep my targets.
i have also a couple of items to trial over the next few weeks, which I will be reviewing on here. Will let you know more at a later date.

Weekly update 31/08/11
Size 14!
Well this week, Im on my way to hitting my target of that 3rd stone by 5th Oct.
As my usual trousers were getting just a little bit loose, I popped to the shops to get some more, and well amazingly Im now a size 14, when I started out I was in 18/20 in May. I am beyond excited.
So this week, I have decided another new target, I want to be a size 12 by November 19th, when I meet some old friends for a get together.
This weeks target is a bit more complicated. Im under a bit of stress at the moment, and usually this would result in comfort eating. So this week, Im my target is to deal with the stress without comfort eating.
Wish me luck!

Taking friends along :)
Well I did go to a weigh in on Thursday, and had indeed lost 5lb, but as this was a morning weight not an evening weight it didnt count completely.
This week it was confirmed that I have over the last 2 weeks lost 5lb, and have therefore hit my 2 stone target. New target has been made.... I want to of lost another stone by a trip with some friends to centre parcs (on 7th Oct) which means 6 weeks till my last weigh day before that on 5th Oct.
I am also really pleased that I have managed to persuade and inspire a lovely friend to come along and lose weight with me. So this weeks target is all about helping her follow the diet this week.

No can do :(
Well this week is a bit of a let down. Was hoping to post that I was nearing the 2 stone mark, and also mentioning that I have started a friend on the diet having seen how much I have achieved. However no can do.
This time its not even down to me not pulling my weight on the diet and fitness front during the past week. No, unfortunately my class was cancelled due to illness. I did with my determined head on, try to go to a different class, but as I was trying to navigate myself round an unfamiliar part of town (with only 5 mins to spare till the start of the class) I ran into roadworks.
So no weigh in today for me.
My new plan of action is to pop along to a class tomorrow am, and hope that having a morning rather than evening weight doesnt cause too much difference. On the plus side, I started the whole of this process as a size 20, and during the last week I needed to buy new trousers as the old ones were falling down (even with a belt) and... drum roll please... I now can get into a size 16. Which is slightly loose!!
I have also learnt this week, that cardio exercise every day can be detrimental to your fitness, so this weeks goal (as well as getting weighed) is to reduce my cardio exercise to 5 times a week.

Liquid target
Well this week, I have hit my latest target :) This week I have lost 4lb, and have to date lost over 1 and a half stone, so Im a happy girl.
This weeks challenge is all about water. Water is key for losing weight, as being dehydrated makes us eat more. It also, strangely, seems to stop you becoming bloated. There has been lots in the press recently about how much water we should be drinking in a day, Im in the 2 litres per day camp. Although recommend drinking even more during the hotter days (if we ever get any) and when exercising. So this weeks challenge is about making sure Im hitting my 2 litres per day target. Im recording my results on MyFitnessPal (a brilliant app for smart phones and website, that allows you to work out the calories you are consuming in a day and also has a water section to record how much you are drinking). My plan is to have two glasses with breakfast, two glasses during the course of the morning, two with lunch and two with dinner. Fingers crossed it will help me get towards my next goal of 2 stone!!

Disappointed and the dreaded creche
Well, this week I lost half a pound. Now I realise my reasons for only losing half a pound was mainly down to eating take out and doritos at the weekend, but I was still disappointed.
I felt that I had been so very good on monday, tuesday and wednesday that to only lose half a pound was unfair. Logical thinking has never been my strong point.
Anyway, have decided that it proves to me take outs and doritos will result in weight gain (if I hadnt been good) and to get the benefit of how good I was, I should try really really hard this week…
So I finally, having made a decision of which gym to use and the logistics of getting there to join, today I have joined the GYM… I went for a package that included a creche and exercise classes. I find going to the gym, boring and I dont work to my full potential, I need someone to kick my butt into gear and entertain me while I exercise. I also have found doing exercise DVDs over the last couple of weeks hard, I have to do them in the evening, which means me and faithful daddy manage about an hour of time to spend together a night, and he ends up doing all the evening household jobs. So I needed to find somewhere to dump my little madam, while I exercise.
This all worked out lovely in my head, until a few minutes ago. I booked her in for her first creche session next friday morning. I then realised, as I hung up the phone, she has never been left with someone she doesnt know, or in a place she doesnt know. EVER. In the whole 18+ months of her life. Im now in panic central. What if she doesnt like it. What if I dont like it. How will she cope. How will I cope.
Now this is where I need the rational side of my head to kick in and point out, the creche is OFSTED registered, its in the same building I will be in, they could contact me if need be, its only for an hour, she goes to the same building for her swimming lessons so its not completely new and different. But its not, all I keep thinking is Im leaving her. alone. with people she doesnt know.
So this weeks challenge is to find the rational side of my brain before next friday, and hope that she does ok at creche. Rubbish challenge I realise, but its the most important at the same time!

Hello and Welcome!
Hello.
I have been blogging on a different site for a while now, but I have some friends on this site and the blogs look so much better, so I have decided to make the move! I mainly write blogs on a few different subjects so thought I would introduce them here.
The thing that got me into blogging in the first place was a way to track, record and generally blog about my weight loss. I started following Rosemary Conley in May following an epic 10 year battle with my weight. I had tried various other forms of dieting before, but never really got anywhere, and for some reason in May I decided enough was enough. First I tried to get some advice and help from my GP, but they were completely useless. So I came to the conclusion, that I needed to join a slimming class, and Rosemary Conley's classes seemed to fit into my ideas the best (it includes a fitness class as well as a weigh in and chat on dieting). I started blogging about 1 and a half months in, and its helped me keep on track so much more! So I tend to blog on how I am doing weight loss wise, I try to include some kind of goal of the week (not weight based but on exercising or challenging my thinking) Then the following week, I report back on how I have done. I also have a recipe of the week. These are all low fat meals that are usually under 400 calories.
Another thing I tend to blog about is things related to my daughter, usually craft ideas or ways to entertain toddlers and children whatever the weather. I have decided to expand this section now Im changing sites. So Im planning on including a section on family days out (stuff we get up to on days out, where we go for days out and reviewing local attractions in relation to toddlers and young children). I also plan on including a section on craft activities as my daughter loves craft! (I also plan on linking in with ideas from other bloggers I know or have read) Another section on this is going to be hand and footprint art, there is so much that you can make with hand and footprints, I wanted to write down all the ones I have come across and made. This is also a great activity whatever the age or development of the child. Which comes to my last part of this section, which is finding fun creative activities to do with children with learning disabilities, I havent come across a lot of sites that cater for their needs, as I work with children with learning disabilities I thought I could come up with some ideas of activities which can work well for them, although can still work well with other children.
The third and final section of my blog is dedicated to reviews. I like to review products related to things that interest me. This mainly includes things related to children or weight loss, but I have completed and am happy to complete more reviews on other products. If you are interested in me reviewing a product for you, then just leave your information at the bottom of this entry.
